The tours offered by the Maastricht Fortress City Foundation are mainly about the history of the fortress. The guides are familiar with the history of the city and have received thorough training to that end. Visitors who are interested in everything to do with the history of Maastricht can fully enjoy themselves.

    from Helpoort to d'Artagnan

    "From Helpoort to d'Artagnan" is a guided tour of fortifications from the 13th century to the 18th century, including improvements and the conquest by Louis XIV. The route goes from the Helpoort to d'Artagnan's statue and covers fortification history and sieges.

    in the Casemates

    The tour of the casemates offers an introduction to the Dumoulin Line, a defense line from the 17th to 19th centuries on the northwest side of the old city, with explanations of the above-ground and underground works.

  • Low Fronts
    The Frontenpark

    A tour of Fronten Park past the northern wet defenses of the Wellington Barrier, which were used for industrial development in the 19th century, and covers both fortification and social history of early industrialization.

  • Fort William I

    In the 18th and 19th centuries, many plans were made for a fort on the Caberg, but they were never carried out. After Napoleon's escape on March 1, 1815, Europe felt threatened and Maastricht demanded immediate construction of a fort. Fort William I is named after King William I of the Netherlands.
